What will the future of aviation look like – and who gets to shape it?

At this year's Students Summit at the German Aerospace Congress (DLRK), students immerse themselves in the complex world of the aviation industry and explore the integration of sustainable technologies in aviation

As part of an interactive stakeholder game, participants take on the roles of key industry players from the fields of manufacturing and development, aviation safety and policy, as well as research. The central focus is on the question of how new, sustainable technologies – such as lower-emission propulsion systems or more efficient infrastructure solutions – can be implemented within a complex landscape of competing interests.

Students experience first-hand how conflicting objectives arise, which interests need to be negotiated, and what compromises are necessary to advance sustainable innovation. At the same time, skills in negotiation, systems thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration are strengthened.

The Summit creates a space for creative solutions, critical dialogue, and new momentum – for everyone who wants to actively drive the transformation of aviation towards greater sustainability.

Overall, up to 100 students can take part in the Students Summit. All participants will receive a free congress ticket (student) for the entire DLRK 2026. Registration deadline is 17 July 2026.

The event is organized by the German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics (DGLR) in cooperation with RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen, and is supported by the Technical Universities of Darmstadt, Hamburg, and Munich.

Terms and Conditions for Participation/Registration
  • Registering for the DGLR Student Summit requires acceptance of the participation and data protection conditions. By regsitering for the Summit, the participant accepts these conditions. DGLR reserves the right to exclude participants from the summit in the event of a violation of these terms and conditions.
  • Participation in the DGLR Student Summit requires completion of the online application form.
  • The application period begins and ends on the dates published on the summits website. Participation is possible until the end of the final day.
  • Each person may only register once.
  • Only natural persons of legal age who are enrolled as students (not phd-students!) at a university are eligible to participate.
  • If more applications are received than places available, the final participants will be selected by random draw.
  • The final participants will be determined shortly after the end date of the registration period.
  • The final participants will receive a free ticket for DLRK 2026 in the form of an activation code, which must be entered during congress registration.
  • Participation in the social program (e.g. networking evening or reception) is NOT included in the ticket.
  • The final participants will be notified electronically via the email address provided. If a final participant does not respond within two weeks after the notification has been sent (completion of registration using the activation code), the entitlement to participate at the summit expires.
  • The participant is solely responsible for the accuracy of the email address provided. Notification of final participant is without guarantee.
  • DGLR reserves the right to terminate the registration process for the summit at any time without prior notice.
  • Should individual provisions of these terms and conditions be or become invalid, this shall not affect the legal validity of the remaining provisions. An appropriate provision that most closely reflects the purpose of the invalid provision shall take its place.
Data Protection Policy
  • Participation in the Student Summit requires the provision of personal data. The participant expressly agrees that the data submitted by him/her may be collected and processed for the implementation and administration of the summit. The participant also agrees that messages related to the summit may be sent to the email address provided by him/her by DGLR. This consent may be revoked at any time. To do so, please send an email to nicole.kretschmer@dglr.de. In the event of revocation, the participant will be excluded from the summit.
  • The personal data entered and submitted by the participant during the application process for the summit will be collected, stored, and used by DGLR exclusively for the purpose of implementing and administering the summit.
  • Should individual provisions of these terms and conditions be or become invalid, this shall not affect the legal validity of the remaining provisions. An appropriate provision that most closely reflects the purpose of the invalid provision shall take its place.
